Egdon Submits New Planning Application for Onshore Wressle Oil Field Back

Egdon Resources PLC has announced the submission of a new planning application for the development of the UK onshore Wressle oil field to North Lincolnshire Council.

The application, which the company believes “comprehensively addresses” the reasons for the refusal of the original planning applications and subsequent appeals, is supported by a planning and sustainability statement, technical drawings, and updated and new technical assessments.

Once validated by North Lincolnshire Council, the application will be reviewed by planning officers, considered by statutory consultees, and will be open for comment from interested parties. Egdon Resources said the period of consultation “should be” 13 weeks for an application of this nature.

“The submission of this new planning application is the culmination of a significant amount of detailed and thorough work by our team of specialist consultants and advisers,” Mark Abbott, managing director of Egdon Resources plc, said in a company statement.

“We plan to set up a community liaison group and a community fund to ensure the local community are kept fully informed and share in the benefits of the Wressle development,” he added.

“We hope that North Lincolnshire Council will recognize the positive changes made to the proposed development when determining this planning application and we remain available to address any remaining questions or concerns which may arise during the consultation and determination process,” Abbott continued.

Oil and gas research analysts at Cantor Fitzgerald Europe said they were hopeful the new application would be approved.

“We are hopeful that this new submission will be approved, given the significant work that has gone into addressing previous concerns and the efforts on community liaison,” Ashley Kelty and Jack Allardyce, oil and gas research analysts at Cantor Fitzgerald Europe, said in a report sent to Rigzone.
